It is all about the attacking football the teams of Bayevic are used to play. The kind of offense Bayevic's teams are playing is a bit old-fashioned but still effective for leagues,at least for the Greek league (which only goes to proove how poor this league has become). In somewhat more advanced leagues the teams playing similar football cannot win so easily,it still takes players that are winners, fine technique can't do the trick by itself. So,what is the old-fshioned thing about the football Aek will play? Too much possesion game and passing game. No genuine striker, the killer that will convert the chances, team depends on producing many chances (at the expense of dropping games against tough defenses that know how to play the break) rather than scoring with the few they will create and defend well behind. The best trick they will have for defending is actually keeping the ball for 10 mins in the difficult away matches until the home crowds gets bored and settles. Also having too many people around the opposite box and moving the ball around until they find the way to hit. After doing this for long it also produces problems for the opposition to reform their offense (which after being idle for long,is dragged out of the rhythm of the game). Of course the teams that will study them closely and play smart defense can still kill them but they will count on winning more points versus closed defenses than their rivals will be able to do.

Now what does it all hae to do with tsiartas going for best goalscorer? First in the process of moving the ball around the opposition box he will have improved chances of scoring from outside,as he has the ability to shoot from outside the box. Second, more fouls outside the box,in which he is a true specialist.

Third, Okkas is a player that reminds of Nikolaidis who left Aek. They both can't stay on their feet and win a lot of penalties.Liberopoulos wins penalties too. Tsiartas is supposed to shoot them. Now what happens with the rest of the pack? Okkas can score but isn't the classic striker, like Shearer or something, likely to pass alot too. Liberopoulos is a real threat as he scores alot (last year too) but still isn't the classic striker (he is something between a 10 and a second attacker,he will be glad to find out that in Bayevic's systems such players are useful, unlike in modern football where it is best to have one position and play it good). What about the other teams? Olimpiakos will score with Houtos, but the lad is constantly either injured or in suspension from his own club's managers because of something silly he said or did. He won't be shooting the penalties so his chances decrease, unless OSFP starts scoring a ton. I can't see them scoring more than Aek. Panathinaikos? Yeah, whatever, they might have someone scoring 50% of their goals and still he won't be the first goalscorer (50% of 36 is 18). This team doesn't score, this year they will certainly play much more attacking football than before but still they are unlikely to have the biggest score.

There is one person I am afraid of as he is a classic striker: Marcin Mietsel of Iraklis. Very good striker, plus his coach builds attacking teams too. He will have Machals alongside him and if Machlas works for him to set up chances for him he becomes a live dog. Still Machlas will score many himself and might be shooting the -few- penalties they will be awarded. I will perhaps take him for cover but is no pick.
