since Tristan to be first goalscorer of CL was my 14th pick this one will be my 15th:
Scotland to qualify for Euro 2004 (to win playoffs against Netherlands) +500. It is +500 both at Canbet and Pinbet.
Hardly a lock of course. But I am hearing Advocaat left 'the Van' out for the 2 matches. No secret that they don't like each other. Well, listen I know very well that the record of teams leaving their star out is impressive in every sport. It motivates the others etc. But I can't see the Van being the cunt Roy Keane is or something. Although I didn't have something against Advocaat, he should be responsible up to a point for this class, it can't be all Van mistake so easily. Well let me repeat that I don't normally like such spots. Not at all. And I certainly know Sotland is rubbish and nowhere near the level Holland can play. But damnit I was considering them at +500 with the Van and if nothing else, nobody bothered to change the odds after he was left out. So, at least we aren't getting the classic 'value' by betting on the team who left their star out. I wouldn't play it at +300 or +350. At +400 probably I would but not pick it, it would be borderline to me. +500 feels too big. Berti Vogts? I never thought he was any good, but hey, Germany did win it with him with some Oliver Bierhoff popping out to impress for the first time in his life at the age of 27! So, I thought I could be a bit harsh on Vogts actually, he might be better than I thought. Wor Steve Caldwell could impress in this one and have all the answers for Dutch attackers. For the 10th time: It is just this +500 that makes it attractive.
