Villains and ... Heroes

Last week the tournament didn't let me post some really good picks. The one that hurt the most was +.25 +110 or something for the 'Villains' in Birmingham. Local derby, huge revenge spot, given the draw when 2 very low scoring teams play. 'Easy' money. This week however I am going against the Villains. Before you know why you might want to know some things that make this look less beautiful: 1) Last year after a big loss to Birmingham, Villa beat Everton. 2) Great tradition for Villa in this one at home. 3) Winless Everton away, unbeaten Villa at home. Everton played to somewhat similar teams away too.

2 and 3 above make me skeptical. 1 doesn't of course. Villa might have made its worst start in the Premiership, but a draw at -better so far- Birmingham was a good result for them. No rebound spot here. On the other hand though, Premiership has few rebound spots anyway, as it is a very streaky league. This one worries me the most. However, Villa aren't really in a good streak, rather on a bad one, it is only the last result that was good. So, although nobody seems to understand this this match is massive: It is really make or break, and actually is so for both teams. Villa could start a run with a win here (2nd good result) and fly to safety early. On the other hand they can really get in the relegation battle if they fail to win here. Everton will be 'back to trying to beat last year's miracles' if they win this one, the draw at home to the Saints will not look that bad anymore, rather a part of a good streak. A draw will be ok, but with the loss the 'one-year-wonders' titles (in the papers) are round the corner. They don't want this.
David Moyes has shown great awareness and ability to motivate his players. He is far more likely to understand how important this match really is, than say David O' Leary. I am given money even with a draw (worth considering at +240 also) so I have to pick +.25 +112 line in Pinbet.
