Just because they haven't

scored a single goal, we are getting the big odds here. Greece were up to 15 to 1 to win in Manchester where the Beckham foul equalised in the last minute and it was nowhere near a foul. Point is they could have won. To me the difference between Greece and NI isn't any bigger than the difference between England and Greece then. And the odds are different. Semi-decent Armenia plays Spain, not Greece. Still, that is not to say I would discourage anyone frombeting on such big dogs in this spot. I don't disagree at all with your other two selections, they could both win. Bulgaria in particular seems good. I just don't know the teams and players well enough to be able to pick. I do know Greek players and they don't have the quality to big that big favs, no way. Although chances of course are they will win.

Something more: NI are one of those teams that public loves to make fun of. They are not that worse than that 'semi-decent' Israel who only approached 2nd place twice in their qualifying groups due to SCANDALOUS luck in the draw. NI could have qualified there. Here again they had 'worldbeaters' Slovenians to overcome. There is a very good reason why people love to make fun of NI: Because they are a British team. English put a way different weighting on what happens to Scotland, Wales, NI than to what happens to say Estonia. These countries form another world, their world, inside the world. They want to claim their superiority in their world and this is why they do it perhaps. This encourages an uneven 'comparison', because what does NI have to do with England soccer wise? So, just because a big part of the European soccer following are English (they read much more magazines and fanzines about the game, they frequent sites much more, etc), there is a perception that this team is worse than it 'should' be (because as Brits they know the 'beautiful game' better). To me they should be bad as they employ same old strategies with the other British, only they have a WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY smaller pool to draw players from. At the time they simply can't score, because I don't even know where their attackers play. However, they drew Spain. If they can lead the match to 0-0 tonite (tough) Greece's goalkeeper will be in the opposite box late in the match, this match can't finish 0-0 as easily.
