This is an interesting angle but I'd caution against betting on the basis of the bookmakers reading too much into match results.

Win/loss/draw data on a given season may be insignificant, but a reading of the various performances of the teams in question is not. The bookmakers and the sharps will be looking at shots on target, corners, assists etc, which is a lot of information that does mean something even in a small number of matches.

I'd want to know a market bias existed with a test against a past data sample before betting on it. If it exists it will show up, if it doesn't, its imaginary.
