The horses

I've stayed out of the "can horse racing be beat" threads, but it is time to chime in. It can be beat. Can I do it day in and day out? No, don't even want to try. It's a bitch to stare at 5 or 6 tracks and get a couple plays at each, or spend a few hours going over a race card only to find nothing you like. Just because I can't or won't even try to do it doesn't mean I don't think it can be done. The people who get burned by the track takeout are the people playing every race. If you make a line(and good at it) and have an overlay, it is worth the bet. If you look at a race and say I like this horse and bet him regardless of the odds, the track takeout will get you playing on a regular basis. I'm serious when I do look at the horses, 1 or 2 days a week during the summer at the most, but not "pro serious". It is fun for me. I have a friend who has made 6 figures every year for the last 14 years. I have the utmost respect for him because I could not do what he does, I wouldn't even want to try. He has no inside information, he just has incredible knowledge of horse racing and tons of public information. He doesn't release his picks. It's horse racing not sports betting, he can't lock in his odds on every race he takes, so why let other people lower them for him? I don't remember the last time he bet more than 4 races on one card. Can horse racing be beat? I didn't think so until I met him. Yeah, it can be beat, but if you want to pick something to start learning, it should be very low on the list, unless you have some knowledge of racing to begin with, because it is probably the toughest to beat.
