This is true certainly. Im not sure the guy was a fish neccessarily though. He made some pretty good reads against him. Just cause he was willing to go with him on certain hands- and gamble with him- doesnt mean he was a fish.

And Phil obviously didnt adapt very well to what was happening- which i believe was your point. But you dont win these tournaments being timid- and im not sure i can blame him for not backing down. Its easier said than done. If he starts changing his play- and limping- or folding- he simply isnt gonna get any action on his real hands- when he wakes up with them. Its not an easy spot to be in. Thats why you dont want that kind of player on your left in that spot.

But for the most part- Phil really didnt make a bad read. I agree with a lot of what you've said- except to criticize his reading ability. I think hes probably one of the best in that respect- without question.
