the guy is starting out.
Better to give him a subset of hands that won`t lose him too much money while he is learning to play the game.

At online lowlimit holdem for every time he plays KQ and is up against AQ or better there will be a lot more times he will be up against nothing.
You can`t learn to analyze players without getting experience at the table.
At low limits you can play as described in the Jones book and make money because the players play so badly and you will be the one doing the dominating the majority of the time.
Last time I was at school they didn`t teach complex situations straight off the bat.
They started simple (even if the simple model was a lie such as the model of an atom!)

The guy is just starting, he needs good advice so he can gain experience so reading books with more advanced topic make more sense.
