all-in abuse

When a player gets disconnected, he's considered "all-in" the same as if he ran out of chips, and is allowed to see the showdown at no additional cost. Until maybe a year ago, you would be put "all-in" any time you didn't respond to an action in time, even if you got up to answer the door or something. Since then, most (all) of the major sites have modified the software so that you're only "all-in" if you're disconnected, and if you simply fail to act you're folded.
Anyway, in the tournament in question I had a healthy stack and my opponent was almost all-in. I bet enough to put him all-in, and he typed in the chat, "Sorry, I hate doing this but I have to," and he intentionally timed out rather than commit all his chips. So instead of being busted he still had a bit in front of him, and then he won a couple hands in a row and won the tournament. I e-mailed Paradise and within 24 hours they disqualified him, banned him from the site, and moved everyone up one place (also redistributing the prize money.)
