In Response To: A check raise on the river would have been bad (Tekari)

"it depends" situations.

If I am playing an average/bad player I would check.
Not only will he bet but he will probably call my check raise most of the time too!
Against a good/excellent player you bet out knowing that he will probably call for value.

If you are convinced that the good/excellent player has a busted flush/straight draw you might try and induce a bluff by checking.
You know he won`t call your bet but might try for the pot if you check to him.
(obviously the above senario is more useful for live play)
