In Response To: bankroll need for 20-40 7-Stud..also 15-30 Holdem (nt) (MT)

Mason Malmuth has discussed this a few times, there might be one of his essays on twoplustwo.com. He estimates the required bankroll to ensure survival is given by:

BR= (9*S^2)/(4*WR) Where S is your hourly standard deviation, and WR is your hourly win rate.

He goes on to say, a fairly tight, typical player in a Vegas 10-20 hold'em game should win $20 an hour with a standard deviation of about $200 per hour, making his minimum bankroll $4500.

Then he gives some tables that use the estimates, that say the following based on player skill:

Hold'em 10-20: OK-$8,000 Good-$4,900 Great-$3,900
Hold'em 20-40: OK-39,600 Good-$20,000 Great-$11,200
Stud 15-30: OK-15,500 Good-9,400 Great-5,600

Guess you'll have to extrapolate to get your exact limits.
