The Economics of Online vs B&M

In Response To: How does one go back to B&M after playing Online (Ricky)

It's interesting how you say you are going to play the same limit as you are playing online. First, as already mentioned, the swings are higher, so a 10-20 game online might play like a 15-30 game B&M.
But here's something else to consider:

If you're a rank beginner online, playing for the first time, where are you probably going to play? .50-1. If you are a rank beginner B&M, where must you play? At the smallest table, which could be 4-8, 5-10, or even 10-20 depending on how much selection the casino/card room has. Now take the top 5% of the micro-limit online players, and they move up from say .50-1 to 2-4 or 3-6. Could definately make for some tough games. I've heard people say there are 2-4 games on Party Poker that were tougher than 10-20 games B&M.

Of course it depends on where you play, how you play, etc., but if you switch from 10-20 online to 10-20 B&M, you might be playing two totally different games.
