Go overseas

Basketball, baseball and football players have no where to go, hockey players can go overseas and play in leagues that aren't as good as the NHL, but are much closer than the Japanese baseball league or any European basketball league is to their counterparts. There aren't many hockey players getting paid at the same level as their peers in other sports despite playing the most demanding sport of them all, and it seems the more demanding your job, the less you get paid.:) The players aren't the NHL problem. The Canadian dollar hurts. The Canadian teams ticket prices are in their dollar, and they have to pay their players in American dollars. That is why you don't see many Canadians teams doing well, and many have left. If they try to put their ticket prices at par with American teams, they outprice their fans. Look at Ottawa, they went bankrupt with the best team in hockey. They couldn't fill their arena. Put that team in Detroit, Chicago, NY, etc and they would be playing to full houses every night. It's a shame they can't work something out rectify that problem but if it continues, you may have Toronto and Montreal as the only Canadian teams and that would be a real shame.
