Seasonal Scoring in NHL?

NHL remains a work-in-progress for me. As I've said my method in sportsbetting is Contrarion angles--plays where short-term public bias sufficiently contradicts my long-term expectations of fair value.
In the NHL, I think my strategy will have better success in MONEY-LINES rather than TOTALs since I can't see enough potential line volatility around the 5.0 goal average. So any insights into how posters here look at TOTALs or SALAMI would be helpful for me...
My question is directed in response to CANADIAN's OVER SALAMI play today; Since I do not calculate exact total expectations for each game and I imagine dispersion among so many games listed today makes Salami an even tuffer calculation, is your play based on potential SEASONAL effects? Specifically I've noticed UNDERS have been strong play Season-to-date (61-44-5) with More OVER's hitting past few days (16-11-5 since Oct-23). I have never played Hockey, but it makes sense to me if (like most sports) DEFENSE is naturally "easier" to focus on where OFFENSIVE schemes/cohesion take time to master from a TEAM standpoint--I could go back and attempt to track historical Seasonal scoring effects but was hoping Posters here may already have insights into this theory before I go into a potentially time-consuming endeavor. Any data you may have already processed (and are willing to share) would be appreciated...
If anything, the dialogue would be interesting no?
