Buffalo Bills

Buffalo finished last in the AFC last year, but its a little misleading. They finished with an 8-8 record, while the other 3 teams all had 9-7 records. These are 4 very evenly matched teams. However when the lines came out, it seems clear BUF is not getting any respect. I think the reasons are because NE won the SB two years ago, MIA is always a popular team, and NY is from NY.
Here are the reasons why I think BUF has a real good shot at winning the division, I don't think they should be the favorite, but I think they should be close to 3-1, as should all the other three teams.
1. The offense is good. There's not much more to say about them. Bledsoe's gone to the SB before, he has the ability and experience to take a team deep into the playoffs.
2. The Head Coach is a defensive coach. Yet it was the defense that was the weakness last year. From Free Agency, they signed one of the best LB in the league (at least preceived best LB in the league, how he will do on a winning team is still uncertain in my mind, but obviously an improvement in this position). Their 2nd round, 3rd and 4th rounders were all defensive players who could possibly contribute. I see the HC putting in alot of effort in training camp with the defensive side, and I see them improving alot. Getting a coule of RB in Gash (runblocking FB) and Gary (forget about McGahee, no contributions expected from him this year) means that they will have the mentality of running the ball a bit more. This will definitely help out the defense.
3. They also get the extra boost of the 4th place schedule. As I mentioned in the SEA post, it isn't worth as much now as it was in previous years, but it is still worth 2 games edge in Strength of Schedule. They play vs CIN and at KC...obviously KC's not an easy game, but those two games are better than PIT/OAK (NYJ), CLE/DEN (NE)...and about equal to SD/BAL (MIA).
4. They get to play MIA on DEC 21 in Buffalo. We all know what that means for the fish.
Conclusion : All the AFC East teams are very close. NYJ probably needs to be downgraded since they play at OAK (again!) and vs PIT. I don't see MIA running away with it, especially since they play both at NE and at BUF in December. (MIA also plays a tough Thanksgiving game at DAL). The odds I see implies BUF is a decided underdog in this division and I just don't think that's right.
