...the Lions did not draw the most favorable of schedules. There are a couple of spots where I do expect supreme efforts from Detroit: against the Cards & Panthers. This will be the 3rd season in a row Detroit has faced Zona, and the Lions blew leads in both games. Facing Zona early is an excellent chance for Detroit to make a statement separating themselves from last year's debacle.

Much the same reasoning applies to the Panthers game. The Lions lost to Carolina early last season in a shockingly bad performance that really set the tone for the rest of the season. Its way too early to forecase a win for the Lions here, but I do expect a real effort.
