assume every game is a coinflip:
Yanks in 4 = 25% (.5x.5)
Yanks in 5 = 25% (.5x.5x.5 YSY) + (.5x.5x.5 SYY)since the Yankees are likely favored when Clemens and Pettitte pitches, Yanks in 4 will be more likely.
it reminds me a little of this question :
assume two teams are perfectly equal in every respect, and they play a best of seven series on a neutral field. what is more likely to happen, the series to end in 6 games or the series end in 7 games?
