Pitching Matchups

In Response To: Feedback on LCS matchups? (Colin Caster)

Even with the change, don't the matchups favor the Yanks? Sele is very beatable, while Pettite has a rep as a playoff pitcher. Obviously, Piniella wants to avoid using Abbott twice; that's why Garcia goes in game two. How will he do on three days rest? Another Yank advantage. Does Abbott go in game 4, so Moyer can work three and seven? Curiously, the Yanks biggest problem may be Clemens.

In the NL, I'd love to see three starts from Batista and Lopez, as I took Atlanta. Not sure it will work out that way. I do agree with Millwood pitching. He wasn't on the roster for the short series. Cox said he would be on the roster for the seven game series so he could be the fourth starter. I think they have enough confidence to use him unless the situation is really desperate, in which case it probably doesn't matter anyway.
