Home Field Adv & White Uniforms

I was watching a game over the weekend when they showed footage of the last pitcher to lose 20 games (Brian Kingman?) and they commented how at that time he was wearing white shirt sleeves. They mentioned how you can't do that today because of the obvious reason that the pitcher would have an advantage considering the hitter may have a hard time picking up the ball in that white background. This got me to thinking:

1) Considering that many home team uniforms are predominantly white, I would think that the sleeves would be negligbly important compared to the rest of the uniform as far as white background goes.

2) If this really is a detriment to hitters, is is possible the home field advantage in baseball is due in part to the home team wearing white uniforms (when applicable).

3) I wonder if home teams that don't have predominantly white uniforms have exhibited less of a home field adv than home teams that do have predominantly white uniforms.

Possibly these points have little merit but thought I would throw it out there for comment.
