Good question...but no data

I could not test the validity of this assumption, because I only have final scores, not scores at the end of 9 innings. If anyone else out there has these data, lets look at them. You are right, of course, to query this as I may be shown to be barking up an entirely wrong tree if the numbers of games going into 10 and more innings at 4-4, 5-5 and 6-6 are not material. Then again...

One thing that occurred to me overnight was the fact that my "big" totals hypothesis (ie totals >11 more likely to go under) conflicts with my hypothesis re 12.5 being a good over bet (which on my hypothesis is driven by the 6-6 factor). I have not yet checked the precise impact of this, but logicaally leaving the 12.5s out of the pool being tested for the "big" totals/under hypothesis, must give you an even better percentage than the 53% reported in my original post.
