i believe i understand what you wrote in your book. but i would like to be free of having to look up your tables everytime, and just input numbers into excel sheets and have it spit out the probabilities for me...thus what i used was the poisson function.
in rereading your pages, i do not find anything to help me with this problem at hand....and the numbers are different from your tables - which leads me to believe i am doing something wrong or making incorrect interpretations off of the excel numbers.
for example, using 3.2,3.6 - you tables show 48,36,15. ties are impossible, so i use 48/(48+36)=57%. poisson function on excel shows 60%. these numbers are different. i am at a loss.
