How does the State make this illegal?

If I want to collect money from my friends, $50 each, and then bet all of this on one team or another, this is illegal? I think there would be some constitutional issues here if the State tried to make this illegal. The casino may be able to restrict this in terms of maximum bet from a "partnership", but I find it hard to believe the State can make buying a legal product for someone else illegal unless this is buying beer for minors or something like that.
