"CREATE" a middle?!

I checked and it appears that two min warning wants $150 for the season. I am wondering how much I would have to be betting to justify paying for their picks.

On a totally different note... One of my books is currently offering -105 on NFL sides during "special" days/times. After looking at table 20 on page 234 of Sharp Sports Betting it occurs to me that you might be able to "create" a middle by buying 1/2 points. If you could take a game with a line of 3 and take the favorite at -2.5/-115 and the dog at +3.5/-115, would you not have positive EV? Or am I missing something? From what I figure this should show a small profit when done on the 3, and should be about break even if done on a 7 (fav -6.5/-115 dog +7.5/-115). Any thoughts?
