Excuse me

But I just thought when you you said that you praise others often you meant in a public and completely unsolicitous fashion. I have only heard you praise one person in a public setting, that I can recall--which is Dan Gordon on the BJ21 forum. And this praise is not without the weight of a certain attached " solicitousness, " since, as far as I understand, you have some kind of personal relationship with him. If you have absolutely no personal relationship with him then please disreguard any and all of my comments and concerns.
And also, to my mind, praising someone between the covers of a book, likewise, is not so much praise as it is a type of acknowledgement, which is common amongst a fraternity of people who share a level of expertise in the same field, and which, in a sense, carries the wait of obligation and conditionality with it. *IF* I shouldn't mention such and such a person in my book, have I not overlooked him in some way in terms of what is OWED him professionally? ( and might he, *IF* I don't mention him, return the favor to me someday? ) The point is, polite acknowledgement often masguerades as praise, when it comes to including the names of others of a similiar endeavor in your or anyone else's book--wouldn't you agree?
When I think of real praise Don, I'm thinking of that which comes totally without strings, in which there isn't the slightest hint of conditionality involved. And this is why recommending ( praising ) any tout publicly is always a bit murky for me because it just raises that question--" Gee, what's in it for him--and why is he saying it here and now?--I haven't heard so much effusive praise before from him regarding anyone in this kind of public setting? "
If, on the other hand, I knew you well personally and you came up to me someday and said: " Jimbo, I've got to tell you about this guy Dan Gordon ( who, for the sake of this little argument let's say you DON'T know him ), and he's ubelieveable blah..blah...blah and I've won 57% of my bets blah...blah...blah...ect and ect.," then I would accept this as *geniune* praise in which there could be no possible hidden and conditional motives for bringing up the information. In other words, the specter of impropriety would be totally lacking, because you would be praising him OBJECTIVELY to me in order to provide *me* with useful information...with no percievable strings attached.
Anyways, good luck, and thanks for the time you've taken to explain yourself.
