Strange thought processes

In Response To: you're not as smart as i thought you were (docriver)

"So, what part of this is inconsistent?"

Most of it.

"this seems to imply that he's been telling you his picks for 20 years, cause [sic] otherwise, how'd you know?"

He told me and I believe him. Fancy that! One honest man believing another honest man. Shocking these days, huh? Suppose SW told you that, for the past 30 years, he's won a million dollars playing blackjack. But, you didn't see him play five minutes. So, you conclude what, exactly? And, if you choose not to believe him, is that a reflection on Wong, or on you?

"and in a previous post, you stated that you haven't bet on his picks yet. something's not right."

You got that right! In 1987, the guy sitting right next to me told everyone to buy SPX November puts in August. A few people did just that. His $20,000 investment turned into $8 million on October 19. I made dick. That isn't a reflection on the guy who bought the puts, is it?

"Well, either you haven't been getting his picks for 20 years (which is what I think),"

I met Dan in 1995 or '96, I think.

"and thus can't be 100% accurate in saying he's done 56-7% in 20
years, except to believe his word"

Yeah, it's a terrible thing to believe a man's word, who is the most scrupulously honest person I think I've ever met. I'm such a sucker when it comes to these things. No judgment of character at all.

"....or, you aren't as smart as I thought you were cause [sic] if you've had that much evidence on him picking 56-7% in 20
years, you would have been betting on his picks for at least the last 10 years"

I've had access to his picks for the past four years.

"i'd think any sane intelligent human would."

Well, that leaves unintelligent, insane me out of the picture, I guess! ;-)
